03 Aug Too Busy to Eat Healthy? Try This!
If you work full time and are trying to have a semblance of a life, chances are that more often than not, your well laid plans to prepare and eat healthy meals often go right out the window. That’s when it’s easy to grab the nearest burger, pizza or energy bar, or worse yet, skip a meal altogether.
I am someone who takes my health and diet very seriously. I’ve been a green-juicing-mostly-organic–partially-raw-vegan for almost 8 years now. And I know that when work mounts and my schedule gets hectic, I find myself getting sloppy with my eating.
So, here are 3 simple habits that help me stay on track and that will help you too!
1. Plan Your Meals
Plain and simple. Lay out your menu for the week. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. At a minimum, I try to plan my meals for a few days at a time, but ideally, I plan for the entire week.
2. Make A Shopping List (And then go shop!)
Once your menus are planned out, then make your shopping list. The key to successful meal planning is to have your ingredients on hand. This way, when it comes time to cook, you are ready to go!
3. Prepare Your Meals Ahead of Time
Try making a few dinners ahead of time and freezing them, or prepping your ingredients so that you save time when you cook. And get into the habit of preparing your lunch to take to work the night before.
These things sound simple and basic because they are. But you will be amazed at what this can do for your overall diet, self-care routines and overall mindset when it comes to taking great care of yourself.
Can you do me a quick favor? Leave a comment and let me know what works for you in terms of meal planning and eating a healthier diet.
Until the next time!
