02 Jan Instead of Resolutions Try This Instead
If New Year’s resolutions work for you, then great, please carry on and get busy now that 2014 has rolled around. However, if you find that you approach New Year’s resolutions with gusto, only to fall down on meeting your goals and setting up this cycle of setting yourself up for failure (even though the failure is self imposed), then maybe it’s time to open up a fresh page and try something new. Instead of resolutions, try setting affirmations and intensions instead. They are a lot more effective and will help to guide you throughout the year. Here are some of our suggestions, but please by all means, add to this list and tweak them so that they work for you!
So, here we go!
I Will Be Kind and Gentle With Myself. Negative self talk is out. Positive thoughts and gratitude are in.
Sleep is a Priority. 7 – 8 hours is ideal Getting enough sleep consistently boosts my immune system, helps me manage my weight, helps me think clearly and function at a high level.
Healthy Foods Fuel My Body. If I can’t pronounce it, I won’t eat it. Sugary, fatty and foods filled with artificial this and that deplete me.
I Will Move My Body. I am grateful for my health and this miraculous body that I was blessed with. I will move my body each day to keep it strong, healthy and energized.
Ergonomics is Not a Dirty Word! In fact, I will get my ergo on in 2014. I will be mindful of my posture, body positions and ways in which I use my computer, laptops and devices. Pain is no fun.
TIme is A Precious Commodity. Therefore, I will use my time well and structure my days to that they count. That may mean saying no and it may mean saying yes. It might mean work and it might mean play. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. It’s how we use them that counts (And yes, that’s a tweetable!)
Breathing is My Savior. In the face of stress? Breathe. When I feel tensions rise, I will take a moment and center myself by closing my eyes and taking a few deep breaths.
Every Moment Counts. Therefore, I will make it a priority to truly be present at work, at home and at play.
I Will Invite More Fun & Joy Into My Life. Whether that is dancing, walking, knitting, playing ball, connecting more with my loved ones, reading, writing and discovering new joys, I will bring more of that into my life.
I Will Reboot Areas of My Life That Need Rebooting. And stop just talking about it. It doesn’t take very long nor is it hard.

Wishing you all the best of EVERYTHING in 2014!
Until the next time,
Vivienne & Andrew, PBE Co-Founders
